Features

1. Bracelet that you can wear on your wrist

  • Bracelet was originally designed on CAD and later will be 3D printed

2. Bracelet buzzes or vibrates when stress level is elevated

  • The bracelet has an optical hard sensor on the inside which uses green LD lights and photodiodes to detect blood flow

  • When heart rate and blood pressure is too high the haptic actuator in the bracelet will buzz

3. Bracelet changes color to correspond with stress level, or heart rate

  • There are copper wires attached to miniature LEDs that are coded using a microcontroller to change the frequency whenever stress level is getting too high, and heart rate is too high

Importance of Tracking Stress

1. Lower Stress = Lower Cortisol

  • When levels of cortisol begin to rise, electrical signals in your hippocampus, the part associated with learning, memories, and stress control, begin to deteriorate.

2. Higher stress = Fewer new brain cells

  • Stress leads to fewer brain cells being made in your hippocampus. Chronic stress will make it harder to learn and remember things, which leads to mental health problems, like depression and eventually Alzheimer's disease.

3. Decreasing stress = Bigger Brain!!

  • Exercise and meditation decrease stress and increase the size of the hippocampus.
